Drug development for the rare diseases the industry overlooks.
We are building a development company for rare diseases — one that pairs AI-assisted asset screening with statistical evidence review before any development commitment is made.
AI finds the candidates. Statistics decides which ones deserve capital.
01About
Rare-disease drug development, powered by AI screening and statistical evidence review.
Guer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a Maryland-based drug development company focused on rare, or "orphan," diseases — conditions that affect small patient populations and are often left behind by large development pipelines. Guer is built to give shelved and undervalued programs a disciplined second look. The sequence is deliberate: structured asset discovery first, then statistical evidence review and expert assessment. Only opportunities whose evidence supports a credible development path move forward, and no development commitment is made before that review is complete.
Our name is a nod to the Chinese word for "orphan" — a reminder, in everything we build, of the patients these medicines are for.
02Process
Every Guer program is designed to pass through the same four steps. AI supports the search and the screening; statistics gates the commitment. Capital only moves at the end.
Landscape Scan
We will systematically map the global orphan-drug landscape — shelved programs, academic discoveries, distressed pipelines, and non-core assets, including the ones conventional review stopped reading — drawing on scientific, clinical, and development information.
AI Screening
AI-supported screening will prioritize candidates for expert review, weighing scientific plausibility, regulatory path, and commercial fit — compressing a landscape of thousands into a shortlist worth a second look.
Statistical Evidence Review
The gate. Before any commitment, we will assess the strength of the underlying evidence — data quality, study design, endpoints, and uncertainty — to inform the next development decision.
Acquire & Develop
For selected opportunities, we will explore acquisition or licensing and define a development plan with qualified partners.
Why a statistical gate? AI is good at finding patterns; it is not accountable for them. In rare diseases — small trials, thin data, no second chances — a disciplined statistical evidence review, with its uncertainty made explicit, is the difference between a calculated risk and an expensive hope.
03Model
Our operating model is designed to keep program strategy and development oversight within Guer, while working with qualified external partners for specialized execution. The responsibilities for each program will be defined before work begins.
Development judgment stays in-house
What stays in-house is judgment. Biostatistics and data science — candidate selection, evidence review, trial design, and go / no-go decisions — are core Guer capabilities, not outsourced afterthoughts.
Development principal
Guer is designed to act as the development principal. For the programs it takes on, strategy, regulatory path, and program governance remain within the company.
Virtual execution network
Preclinical, laboratory, clinical, and manufacturing work will be performed by specialized contract partners matched to each asset's science — a lean, partner-based model, with no standing laboratory footprint of our own.
04Team
A small, experienced team leads Guer's evaluation work, spanning clinical development, biostatistics, and rare-disease program assessment. Statistical evidence review is the company's core in-house responsibility; the team is setting the review standard every candidate must meet before a development decision is made.
Biostatistics & evidence review
Design and conduct of the statistical evidence reviews that gate every opportunity, including data-quality assessment and uncertainty analysis.
Clinical development
Assessment of clinical feasibility, endpoints, and development planning for candidate rare-disease programs.
Program evaluation
Structured evaluation of rare-disease assets and partnering opportunities, from landscape scan through to the development decision.
05Focus
Our focus is rare and orphan diseases where a small, disciplined development program can change the outlook for patients who currently have few or no options — and where structured screening and evidence review can surface value conventional review misses. As our scan begins, we will evaluate in-licensing and acquisition opportunities in assets with a clear orphan-designation path and a development plan that fits our virtual model.
We welcome non-confidential introductions from companies, academic groups, and foundations with rare-disease assets for evaluation. Please share the indication, development stage, a brief summary of available evidence, and the relevant rights or partnering contact. We will advise on the appropriate next step before any confidential materials are exchanged.
Formal partnering criteria are still being defined; at this stage, every introduction is evaluated case by case.
